RTKB: RStore Drive: Self-Service Mapping Instructions


Background Information

The RStore Drive is network storage that can be mapped onto desktops or laptops computers. These systems can be personal, Tufts owned or connected to equipment/instrument.

The instructions below are made available to user who already have access to a specific RStore Drive. If you are stuck on any step, please call the service desk at 617-627-3376 or email it@tufts.edu and request assistance via a remote session.

NOTE: If you do not have access yet, please complete the online request for RStore Drive access.


 

RStore Drive: Self-Service Mapping Instructions
 
NOTE: Tufts VPN is required when mapping drive from outside Tufts network. Here is information on Tufts VPN.

*** MAC COMPUTERS ***

Mac Drive Path(s):
smb://rstore.it.tufts.edu/RStoreDriveName

To map the drive(s) on a Mac:

  1. Click on Finder
  2. Press Command+K
  3. Enter the path to the network drive you want to map
  4. Click Connect

 

*** WINDOWS COMPUTERS ***

Windows Drive Path(s):
\\rstore.it.tufts.edu\RStoreDriveName

To map the drive(s) on a Windows computer:

  1. Open File Explorer and right-click on This PC.
  2. Select Map network drive from the menu.
  3. In the Drive dropdown, select a drive letter (H, M, R, S, etc.).
  4. In the Folder textbox, type the path of the drive listed above.
  5. If this is a personal computer or otherwise not owned by Tufts, continue below; otherwise click Finish.
  6. For personal computers:
    1. Check the box for Connect using different credentials.
    2. Enter your Tufts username and password at the prompt, adding "TUFTS\" to the username:
         Username: TUFTS\Tufts_Username
         Password: Tufts_Password
      Below the password textbox it should say "Domain: TUFTS".
    3. Click OK to submit.
